Extension of existing deck to connect part of the house and create a bigger entertainment area for the summer.
This sleek black beauty situated in the heart of North West was the carefully thought out vision of a reputable architect and professional couple looking to create something simple yet magnificent.
The home would be made up of 3 spacious bedrooms, large walk-in wardrobes all with grand double en-suites. The ground floor would be one continuous room with open plan living, dining and galley kitchen, big enough for entertaining and hosting dinner parties.
A vertical panel aluminium cladding system was used on this house and was matched with black window frames, contrasted against a bright orange door. Custom made large windows and bathroom skylights created a lovely, calming light-filled space. Craft construction were extremely proud of their superb craftsmanship and attention to detail, making this two storey new-build stand out from the crowd.
The result was a beautifully modern, unique home that combined different exterior material types effortlessly. The owners were over the moon with the high-end finish and final touches, they couldn’t wait to celebrate and show off their designer home to friends and family the weekend they moved in!
Our clients looked far and wide for the perfect home, but in the end decided to design and build their forever home from scratch. This family of 4 had a clear vision of what they wanted; a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom, two-storey weatherboard dream home on the Te Atatu Peninsula. It was also important the family had their own spaces, garage, an open plan living room and backyard for the kids to play in. The layout needed to be practical but feel homely.
Working together with the family and architect throughout the process allowed everyone to be on the same page, and ensured all documentation was accurate and submitted on time to council in preparation for the build. Understanding our clients requirements from the get go, with regular meetings and updated building timelines allowed the entire build process to run smoothly and be completed on time.
The end result was a huge success, and completely exceeded this families expectations. The kids were very excited to have their own bedrooms, including some fun storage/hide and seek cubby holes we built and the couple were delighted with the high level of finished details throughout the home.
They are happily still living and enjoying their forever home!
This growing family of 5 needed a home with a lot of space!
With 3 children already attending primary school in the North West and the incredible community living, the new West Auckland subdivision was the perfect solution.
The family had grand plans drawn up for their 3 storey, double garage, 3 bathroom, 2 living room, 5 bedroom + study home. Giving them the much needed storage and extra space they needed for their large family. Craft Construction were excited to get on board, and help bring this spacious new build to life.
With sky lights, bi-fold doors, 3 decks, high stud ceilings and generous sized rooms at every turn the home was stunning, and something our team were really proud of building.
The new homeowners were thrilled with the end building result and how much space they ended up with.
This investor decided to build a rental property on his existing section. He worked with an architect to design a cosy, modern two-bedroom rental, to accommodate a professional couple or similar.
Located in sought after Kingsland, the home needed to match the neighbourhood style, have light-filled rooms and a large private deck.
Craft Construction were excited to be part of is building project, and bring the investors vision to life. The heart of the home was centred around the open plan living, kitchen and dining, all of which flowed out onto the sun drenched deck.
The bedrooms were cleverly designed to maximise space with built in sliding wardrobe doors. The solid weatherboards and neutral colour palettes ensured the new home complimented the surrounding houses.
The owner was very happy with the final result, and had no trouble finding suitable tenants to move in and enjoy this comfortable and well built two bedroom home in Auckland.
Our clients purchased their ideal Villa in Grey Lynn, Auckland. It was almost exactly what they had been searching for, but was still in need of some improvements, and expansion for their young family.
The house backed onto a very large section surrounded by lovely privacy trees, however the space was not being utilised to its full potential.
To improve their backyard the solution was to create an indoor/outdoor living space from the house. To achieve this, we opened up the back of the house and installed large windows and bi-fold glass doors. This new rear entrance flowed out onto a beautiful hardwood timber deck with an automated aluminium louvre with a concrete patio.
Extensive architectural landscaping and retaining walls were built up to create terraced steps on the new pool and garden level.
These changes were a dramatic improvement, and the new outdoor living space became the heart of the home. Our clients were thrilled with the additions, and felt it doubled the size of the properties usable space.
This beautiful and historical 19th Century Villa, situated in the heart of Kingsland needed to be lovingly restored and brought back to its former glory. This renovation was one of Craft Constructions most challenging and rewarding projects to date.
To achieve a full remodel and restoration of the Villa we stripped the house back to bare bones. Due to the age of the building there was extensive rotten timber and weather boards which where remediated. It was also imperative that the original character features such as the fireplace and intricately detailed mouldings were retained. Along with meticulously restoring every detail and remodelling the existing rooms, There was an extensive basement dig, adding an additional bedroom and garage. We also installed modern heat pumps, insulation, double glazing and LED lighting throughout.
There was a huge amount of work needed to complete this project, and our before and after video below demonstrates just how transformational that journey was. We are incredibly proud of what we achieved, and the owner was also very pleased with the final result.

This couple had been living happily in their existing home in Takapuna for many years. The current house was built on a generous sized section, but the homeowners were not utilising their backyard because it was on a steep downwards slope.
They wanted to improve the space and find a better purpose for the land. They realised the financial opportunities that subdividing their section could bring them and decided the best use of space was to build a brand new home and income rental property.
This was an exciting challenge for Craft Construction because the section was not flat. It was a very steep slope that required our team to excavate and flatten the site completely to ensure we had a stable building platform to work on.
The new home was designed to be simple yet maximise space, with its sole purpose being a rental, ideally by two persons max. The house spanned across one level, with 2 medium size bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. The living room flowed out onto the entertaining area, which ensured the home felt spacious and could be enjoyed by long term renters.
Our team enjoyed building this minor dwelling on the North Shore and the homeowners were so pleased that their backyard, was finally turned into something of real value to them.
This bungalow situated in renowned Sarsfield Street in Herne Bay was bought by two overseas investors who wanted to completely transform the home from a dilapidated 1920’s house into 5 rental properties. This bungalow renovation required a huge amount of work to achieve their goal and was one of Craft Constructions largest projects.
We worked alongside the architect and client, to re-configure the entire layout of the house, and create 5 separate units and entrances. All units needed to be separated within the house, each with private outdoor spaces such as a deck, courtyard or backyard. 4 units built with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 1 larger unit with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms.
Working with clients in different time zones had its challenges, however by using our latest project apps, skype meetings and chat tools, keeping our digital timelines updated and overall excellent project management we were able to ensure the build ran smoothly from end to end. The result was simply stunning! The rooms were bright with lovely high original ceiling designs completely restored. The original hardwood wooden flooring was polished back and flowed out seamlessly from the living rooms onto the modern timber deck and glass balustrades. Our clients were blown away by the transformation and had queues of potential tenants eager to move into these brand new units.
Our client lived in a cosy 3 bedroom home in Laingholm surrounded by beautiful native bush. She enjoyed the privacy of the location, but the home was an original 1960’s Bach, with a small living space and dated window joinery. To maximise the incredible views over the Huia dam, a large deck and large ranch sliders were installed. To generate a rental income for the property we also built a basement studio apartment.
The style brief through out the property was to maintain the retro Bach style yet bring it into the 21st century with soft finishes, modern flooring and light colours. We achieved the retro style by using anodised aluminium joinery and redeeming an original kitchen bench top.
On the main floor we pushed out the back of the house, which flowed out on to a new timber deck, which had expansive views over the Waitakere ranges. Increasing the size and making the space more open with new windows, doors and outdoor living, completely transforming this home.
Our client was delighted with the new space and could now see her amazing views from any angle in the living room. She was also very excited to start renting out her downstairs studio.
